Joe is an avid overall outdoorsman. He loves hunting, hiking, and camping. While growing up in western Wisconsin on a dairy farm, Joe was introduced to hunting by his father. This led to hunting for whitetail deer, wild turkeys, grouse, pheasant, and other small game animals. Now Joe lives in western MN and still goes after the same animals he did during his youth. In the fall, you can find Joe either in a tree-stand bow hunting deer or walking the fields with his golden retriever 'Sky' in search of pheasants. When spring comes around, Joe is after his favorite species to hunt - the wild turkey. He has been successful in WI, MN, SD, and KS. After the turkey season, Joe is out scouting for the next deer season and gaining permission on new property to hunt. Joe has also pursued elk and has gone to Colorado the past couple of years to try this new adventure.
Besides hunting and scouting, Joe loves to camp and hike with his wife Jen and dog Sky. Together, they have taken many trips out to the Black Hills of South Dakota and to several National parks out west.
When it comes to gear - you typically get what you pay for. Joe found this out the hard way (and the more expensive way) through trial and error. That is why Joe loves being a part of SportsmansReview.com so much. For him, it’s all about being able to help out other outdoorsmen make quality purchasing decisions. A lot of times you can't afford the best. But, sometimes the best performing gear is not always the most expensive.
The above picture is of Joe and his two toms he got during a hunt on public ground in Kansas. Without quality gear, he never would've been able to take those two birds.
