  • During our initial test (Nov, 2009 through Mar, 2010), the camera took 173 pictures - of those 173 pictures about half were from known events. So, the camera is tracking lower than others in terms of the number of false detections. However, we will verify this with our second round of testing – we believe in many cases, the camera was being correctly triggered, but the animal just wasn’t in the frame yet. Perhaps more importantly, the batteries show no signs of being worn down – this is tough time of year for cameras and this one stood up tall to the hard elements!

This first picture shows a doe very close to the camera and a second a bit off in the distance. The depth-of-field quality of this picture is excellent! Overall, the camera takes nice pictures. This picture is reduced by 15% from its original size of 3200 px wide x 2400 px high to 480 x 360 for display here.

Night time pictures are captured in black and white. This photo shows a fox on a snow covered landscape. The camera is mounted low and the snow was pretty deep. The night flash has a tendency to “blow out” some pictures as compared to others. We also found many night time pictures were blurry. It’s hard to capture great night photos, we know, but other cameras have performed better.

This is another great picture from our test of the SpyPoint IR-C Trail Camera. It’s a beautiful shot of a coyote sitting atop the snowy landscape.
