Savage Arms Savage Arms .17 Series Model 93R17 BTVS .17 HMR - RH Review:
This is a great highly-accurate 17 HMR from Savage Arms. The gun features a heavy barrel and a thumbhole stock made from wood laminate - both contribute to its 7.5 pound weight which is a bit on the heavy side for this caliber. It features Savage's AccuTrigger which can easily be adjusted down to 2.5 pounds of pull - a great feature for improving accuracy without requiring a trigger job (usually $100+ and done by a gunsmith).
I shot over 1,500 rounds with this gun during a trip shooting Richardson ground squirrels in Oregon. The gun performed flawlessly. During the trip, the gun shot accurately, the barrel didn’t get too hot and it was easy to clean afterwards. My only complaint on this gun would be that you can only get clips that hold 5 rounds (at 500 rounds per day, that’s an awful lot of changing out clips). This guns is balanced well and the thumbhole stock allows the shooting to take complete control of the gun. The .17 HRM is a fantastic round, and the Savage Model 93 BTVS is a worthy carrier!
